Straight Bees

Yes that's right. No plus, no minus. Out of the 5 mods I took (the least ever for a semester so far), I got an S for one, and B for everything else.

It's so disgustingly, distinctly average that it makes me feel that there isn't anything that I'm good at! I got 4 B+ for the first sem, 4 B+ for the second sem and just when I thought I should be getting better, I got my lousiest results ever.

4 Bs.

I was in a state of shock and disbelief because it looked completely absurd. There were some mods I spent more time on, some that I liked better than others. In the end all of them yielded the same result - WHAT THE FUCK?!

At the rate that this is going, a second upper is close to becoming impossible. What I've achieved this sem is probably not measurable by grades, but what I failed to achieve academically is glaringly obvious, as shown by the grades.

I need to be more consistent next semester and choose the right modules. It's been 3 semesters - I need to make the lessons learnt count for something, dammit!

Famous Five

03

The OGLs (Pamy, Lyon, Vanessa, Jac and I) hung out at Lyon's place last week for a movie marathon. I have never seen 5 movies in a row before and it was really thrilling. I guess the mood was just right and the company was really great.

02

Lyon's cosy room!

Well we were in the company of quite a few film greats. That ought to count for something.

First movie featured grand dame Meryl Streep alongside a former 007 actor and an actress who was famous for telling the weather with her boobs in 2004's Mean Girls. It was great the first time I watched it at GV Gold, but the second time was quite... dreary. Thank goodness for Julie Walters and Christine Baranski. They were hilarious.

Next up, we travelled a decade back in time with an animated feature film based on a Chinese legend. I've never watched it in its entirety before. It started off very well but I got a little bored at the very end. The best part was 98 degrees singing at the end. My favourite boyband after N'sync.

Another musical took centrestage. I find it ridiculous that I hadn't seen this masterpiece in the cinemas! The film was the first musical film to win the Best Picture since Oliver! in 1968 and on top of that, nabbed 5 other Oscars. I haven't seen Renee Zellwegger shine brighter in any movie in recent years. The massive scale of production was a feast for the eyes and ears and its use of unique cinematography really had my attention for every second of the movie.

The fourth movie came and by that time I was running out of stamina. However a sharp change of genre after the rather heavy musical film adaptation to a romantic comedy released one year later in 2003 and a cosier setting of Lyon's room got me going. Despite being largely panned by critics, I think Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey (whose Failure to Launch failed to launch) worked rather well on screen and the script was decent enough! Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

After dinner, we travelled across the Atlantic for a movie that was about Christmas. In fact I think it's so awesome that it should be seen every Christmas! Okay, so I'm exaggerating but I've seen bits and pieces on TV for the past 5 years that I was so irritated I decided to rent it for the our movie marathon. It has a huge cast and as difficult as it was for all of them to pull their weight, Emma Thompson was particularly good, while Bill Nighy was particularly funny. Kiera Knightley and Hugh Grant's characters were a bit fluffy... but all the small details in the movie worked out to become New York Times called, "a romantic comedy swollen to the length of an Oscar-trawling epic — nearly two and a quarter hours of cheekiness, diffidence and high-tone smirking". Awesome.

Burnbook

Do you want love or you want fame, are you in the game? I'll follow you until you love me, papa, papa, paparazzi. Bling bling! We're beautiful and dirty rich! No, can't read your mind, Poker Face.

It's the platform where we compete on.

Rate each other. Pit yourself against one another. Competitions. Games.

Who has the most photos. Who has the most happening parties. Who is most invited. Who goes to the most events. Who has the most friends. Who knew who who knows who who is somebody who is rich or famous. Glamour and money, so sexy.

Updating for the sake of updating, showing everyone that you exist. Updating for the sake of showing that you're better. You're busy doing this, this, this and that. Oh, you're so urgh and I'm all that.

Beat that.

Lights. A smile. A kiss. Your face. Your hair, yeah like this step up the pace. Camera flashing, flashing, flashing. Stop. Dance, grind, grab that person hold it close. Snap, snap snap. Face to face not an inch of space. That expression, the model's, priceless, show it, shove it into their faces. Give them something to talk about. Get nasty. We just like to party. Oh yeah do you feel this. Lights, camera, action. No time for a breath, don't stop. Immediately. Repeat choreography.

Pointless much?

Like any good sin I just can't take my eyes of you.

But like any good hero, I will beat you.

Christmas Time

xmas

I like the spirit of Christmas. I'm not religious but being immersed in the festive season and all its glory makes me feel that there're miracles waiting to happen. Nice, small things. Not parties galore but small gatherings between family and friends, truths, confessions, love, connections... and presents.

I wish that everyone will get a bit of that magic.

Merry Christmas.

I've got a bit of sunburn on my face from all the running around today but I had tonnes of fun. I don't think I'm made for competitions. I get really jittery on court. I'm sure others do too, it's just that I find it super overwhelming!

Taking photos on the other hand, gives me the chance to compete with myself, pushing to find better angles, forming interesting compositions... stuff like that.

They played really well today. I think they made about 8 home runs while the opposing hall scored, well, zero. I don't really understand the game much and I was too busy to keep count of the score, but the batting was awesome and we have players who are really quick on their feet.

On to the quarter-finals!

Go Hall 12!

And lots of people asked me where I have been again! I have been alive people!

It's great to be back in hall, back in school and being involved in IHG and ISG. I've been away from such events for so long!

I've been tasked to photograph today's tennis match. I think I've improved tremendously. The same cannot be said for my writing. I hope no one sees the shit I wrote for the Hall Olympiad webby!

Tomorrow's another crazy day for IHG, with me taking photos for Volleyball and Softball and watching a play at night. I hope it's awesome.
